Recently a client of ours who are Financial Planners undertook an IT security review as part of their financial license conditions. Obviously with highly confidential customer data at stake, they need to ensure the security practices are up to standard and that client’s critical information is being protected.
It was undertaken by an IT security specialist who has reviewed over 300 organisations like this. The security specialist asked to view the Microsoft admin console. He looked at a few areas including:
He was satisfied with these areas and stated that most organisations he examined had a Microsoft secure score of 30%, which is too low. Also, 280 out of the 300 organizations did not switch off legacy authentication.
So ask your IT company to provide your Microsoft Secure Score and see your level of risk. If the score is 30% then ask them why. You must also check whether multifactor authentication is enforced and whether legacy authentication has been disabled.
If you are not currently a client and would like a review of your security risk then please book a complimentary consultation by calling (03) 9555 4986 or via our chat box.
